Del Van Dyke in Valley SpringsThe February 2010 stand up comedy show at La Contenta Golf Club and Event Center in Valley Springs further proves that there is a sophisticated crowd in the area and they're hungry for live comedy.

Dubbed:  "Comedy Night 2" by its producers (La Contenta & HumorMeComedy.com), it's the second of its kind in recent memory, following a successful show in November of 2009.  Tickets were sold out in advance of this show, as they were at the previous event.

Tom Bickle emceed, giving announcements, introductions and keeping the energy level up.  He also delivered his own set on topics including being overweight, the animal kingdom and a bit on his wife's alleged interest in breast augmentation that, true or not, couldn't have won him any points at home.  Fortunately, the set was a hit where it mattered, with the crowd, and he closed his set with an eruption of laughter that started the night off strongly.

Patrick Jaye stand up comic at la Contenta for HumorMeComedy.comPatrick Jaye took over from there, and with his smooth style he took the crowd into his hands and never let them go.  Patrick Jaye showed his ability to tailor his comedy to the venue and even his fellow performers, with jokes that involved Valley Springs' rural character and an incident that allegedly involved Tom, his wife and a dark room.  Patrick took the crowd on a great ride, including material on his past work in the real estate industry, his family's military background, and black ghosts.  Patrick's respect for the crowd  and his ability to walk the fine line between the risque and the forbidden gave the audience the best of both worlds, and they were not stingy in showing their approval with applause and laughter.

Del Van Dyke was the headliner, and he delivered on all fronts.  He weaved local subjects and flavors with other themes and ideas.  He showed a diversity of Tom Bickle. comedian, Calaveras Countycomedic subjects as he busted on topics of all kinds, including family, drugs, and STD's, the police, pharmaceutical commercials and much more.  Del has a fluid, conversational style that the audience clearly enjoyed.  Immediately the crowd was on board, and Del took them wherever he wanted to go, rewarding them with an extended set that was wall-to-wall laughter.
